Pre-physical Therapy in Exercise Science

Within the Department of Human Movement Science, the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-physical Therapy is designed for students who want to prepare to apply for graduate programs in physical therapy. In addition to introductory courses within pre-physical therapy, the concentration includes a broad spectrum of liberal arts, basic sciences, social sciences and exercise science courses required for a generalized health sciences program.

Career Information

The career outlook for physical therapists is very positive due to an aging population as well as the increased need to treat people with mobility issues stemming from chronic conditions, such as diabetes or obesity.

Job Outlook
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that employment of physical therapists is projected to grow 22 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. 

Average Salary
According to the BLS, the median average wage for physical therapists was $89,440 in 2019.
