Interdisciplinary Health Sciences
Where life and health interests intersect
Through the perspectives of behavioral, social and natural sciences, Interdisciplinary Health Sciences embraces hands-on research and real-world experiences. Students may choose to major in Nutrition, or major in Health Sciences and choose a concentration in Pre-health Professional Studies, Holistic Health or Pre-pharmacy for pursuit of advanced graduate education (M.D., D.O., PA, DDS, DVM, etc.). Transfer students can continue their Associate in Arts and Sciences degree with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences.

We advance the field of health sciences through interdisciplinary research and scholarship. Utilizing evidence-based approaches that emphasize science within real-world contexts, we prepare practitioners for a wide variety of health pursuits.
To be, and to educate, leaders in collaborative interdisciplinary health science research and practice in the classroom, clinical, and community settings.
A minor in Community Health Engagement is an option for students who wish to explore the community health policies, practices and predictors that impact health. The minor provides students with hands-on learning opportunities focused in real-world community settings to learn about health engagement in diverse populations. A total of 20 credits are required for the minor, including 16 core credits and 4 elective credits.

The Holistic Health minor provides coursework that centers on lifestyle changes and self-care to promote wellness through diet, exercise, mental health and spiritual awareness. The minor integrates principles of conventional and alternative practices to prepare students for opportunities in private and clinical holistic care centers. A total of 20 credits are required for the minor, including 14 core credits and a minimum of 6 elective credits.

A minor in Nutrition and Health is available to students in any degree program. A total of 22 credits are required for the minor, including 18 core credits and 4 elective credits. A minimum GPA of 2.00 is required in each course for the minor.
