Biography

Christina Papadimitriou is Associate Professor at Oakland University, School of Health Sciences, Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences and in the College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Sociology. Christina received her Ph.D. from Boston University, Department of Sociology (2000) and her post-doctoral training from Northwestern University, Institute of Healthcare Studies (2009) and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research (CROR). Christina is an active qualitative rehabilitation researcher who uses a social justice/ equity approach (www.ccghr.ca) to study peer health navigation and peer mentoring for persons with physical disabilities in the USA. She is passionate about understanding person-centered practices in rehabilitation, and works with various stakeholders groups, including CARF International, towards implementing them. Christina’s research has been funded by NIDILRR. She collaborates with investigators from a variety of disciplines and across North America and Europe. She has been methodological consultant in several SCI QUERI studies at the Hines Veteran Hospital in IL, USA; and is Senior Scholar at George Washington University in the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Policy Research. Christina enjoys mentoring students and early career investigators, is an active member of ACRM, and teaches in health and social sciences programs.

She is a native of Greece and has made Ann Arbor, MI, USA her home where she lives with her partner, her two teenage daughters and a lab-mix dog.
