Research/Scholarship:
Dr. Marks’s research interests have been in the cardiovascular, metabolic, and body composition areas. Currently, he is comparing the physiological & kinematic responses among crutches, knee scooter, and knee crutches for mobility related to a foot or ankle injury. He plans to return to looking at the impact of using a stability ball during aerobic exercise on cardiorespiratory and EMG parameters. His previous studies were with acute exercise but the next step will be to examine the effects resulting from aerobic training. He also collaborates with colleagues in other areas, such as heart rate variability with cancer patients/survivors and fitness level response for those engaged in a physical activity program designed for individuals with Autism. He is also planning a multiple comparison study among different body composition methods with short term dietary manipulation. He encourages undergraduate students that have taken the exercise physiology course and laboratory and graduate students to work on my research and present at local or regional scientific meetings.
