Dr. Ngong Kodiah Beyeh, assistant professor of organic chemistry at Oakland University, has received a five-year, $700,000 CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation. The award will support research and education on halogen bonding, a process that could transform the field of materials science.

Rochester, Michigan —June 9—Today, Oakland University announced they have been selected as an education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, providing Amazon’s hourly employees access to about 130 undergraduate degree programs. Eligible employees can choose from emerging fields such as cybersecurity and bioengineering to classic degree areas such as business, science, education and the liberal arts.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics and the Master of IT Management programs will now be accessible to students from anywhere in the world through a convenient, flexible, and fully online format.

Oakland University Professor Anna Spagnuolo has been recognized as one of the state's three recipients of the 2023 Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year award, which recognizes the outstanding contributions and dedication exhibited by the faculty from Michigan’s 15 public universities to the education of undergraduate students. The awards are presented annually by the Michigan Association of State Universities.

Situated on the northwestern edge of South America, the country’s mountains, rivers and rainforests make it one of the most biodiverse places in the world – and a fitting locale for one of Oakland University’s tropical field ecology courses.
