Each residence hall room includes:
  • extra-long twin bed and mattress (except for the upperclassmen suites Oak View Hall, which have full-size beds)
  • dresser
  • desk and chair
  • carpeting
  • shelves and closet space
  • lighting
  • wastebasket
  • window blinds

Residence Halls

OU has six unique residence halls located in the heart of campus. That means everything you need -- classrooms, labs, the Rec Center, food and Kresge Library -- are all within a 10-minute walk. 

Living in the residence halls provides the ultimate college experience: growing and learning with like-minded students in a fun, yet safe, environment.
Hamlin
Hamlin is a nine-story, twin-towered freshman hall that features:
  • suite-style living arrangements for 4, 5 or 6 people sharing a private bathroom
  • loftable beds in each bedroom
  • study lounges on each floor
  • reception desk staffed during the day
  • laundry facilities (six washers and dryers on the third floor of each tower)
  • 670 student capacity (new students only)
The main floor has a large lounge with a big screen TV, fireplace, vending machines, seminar rooms, computer lab (with free printing) and the University Housing Office. Hamlin is also home to the First-Year Experience (FYE) students.

Room Specifications

Each room in Hamlin is 11’ 2” x 12’ 6” with a ceiling height of 9’. Homemade lofts are not permitted; materials to loft your bed are provided at move-in.

Vandenberg
Vandenberg is a seven-story, twin-towered hall that features:
  • suite-style living arrangements for 4, 5, or 6 people sharing a private bathroom
  • lounge and study areas on each floor
  • reception desk staffed during the day
  • laundry facilities (six washers and dryers on the first floor of each tower)
  • 540 student capacity (new and returning students)
Vandenberg Hall houses the Vandenberg and Vandy II Dining Centers, as well as half of the Honors College Living Learning Community, the Pre-Nursing Community, Pre-Business Community and Eco-Interest Community.

Room Specifications

Each room in Vandenberg is 11’ 2” x 12’ 3”. Ceiling height on the second floor is 7’, on the seventh floor it is 9’ and on all other floors it is 8’. Lofts are permitted; you must provide lofting materials and labor.

Hill
Hill is a six-story, single building that features:
  • double rooms with community bathrooms in the center of each floor
  • study rooms on each floor
  • laundry facilities (four washers and dryers on the first floor)
  • 200 student capacity (freshman)
The main floor has a lounge with big screen TV, vending machines and microwave ovens.

Room Specifications


Each room in Hill is 10’ 10” x 11’ 2” with a ceiling height of 8’. The furniture provided in the room can be lofted in multiple configurations with no additional materials from you. To view potential furniture configurations, please click here.

Van Wagoner
Van Wagoner is a six-story, single building that features:
  • double rooms with community bathrooms in the center of each floor
  • study rooms on each floor
  • laundry facilities (four washers and dryers on the first floor)
  • 200 student capacity (freshman)
The main floor has a lounge with big screen TV, vending machines and microwave ovens.

Fitzgerald
The smallest residence hall on campus, Fitzgerald is a two-story, single building that features:
  • double rooms with community bathrooms
  • laundry facilities (four washers and dryers in each wing)
  • 96 student capacity (returning and transfer)
The main floor has a lounge with big screen TV, fireplace, vending machines and microwave ovens.

Room Specifications

Each room in Fitzgerald is 12’ x 15’ 6”. Lofts are permitted; you must provide lofting materials and labor.

Oak
View
In August 2014, University Housing opened the doors to its newest residence hall, a 500-bed student housing complex.

Oak View Hall, a $30 million facility, gives residents access to a small cafe, space for student meetings, and private and group studying. The building also plays host to OU’s Honors College.

Room Specifications


Oak View Hall houses two types of suites, the Freshman Suite and the Upperclassman Suite.

Bedrooms in the Freshman Suite are double occupancy, and are 12'1" x 13'4", with a ceiling height of 9'10". Materials to loft the extra-long, twin-sized beds in the Freshman Suites are provided at move-in; homemade lofts are not permitted.  The furniture provided in the room can be lofted in multiple configurations. Bedrooms in the Upperclassman Suite are private, single-occupancy rooms, and are 9'8" x 9'8", with a ceiling height of 9'10". Beds in the Upperclassman suites are full-sized, and lofts are not permitted.
