Setareh Ghoreishi is a graphic designer and multidisciplinary digital media artist. After receiving her B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Art in Tehran, Iran, she moved to the United States to pursue her MFA in Graphic Design from Florida Atlantic University and a second MFA in Art and Technology from the University of Florida. Setareh explores the role of visual art and design in the interaction between two different cultures, Iranian and American. She illustrates different cultural values by using personal experiments through the language of design, digital art, and installations. Her work investigates the juxtaposition of the Farsi and English languages and focuses on understanding how design can be shaped and influenced through visual, socio-cultural and historical contexts. She has presented at graphic design events both nationally and internationally including the International Conference on Design Principles & Practices, American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA DEC Lens Symposium), UCDA Design Education, TypeCon, College Art Association of America (CAA), Mid America College Art Association (MACCA), Southeastern College of Art Conference (SECAC), and Design Incubation. Setareh’s works have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions, with her recent solo show at Vanderbilt University, where she illustrated how language and alphabets can be transferred in different mediums expressively. She has been accepted into various art and design residency programs and continues to create works that bridge ancient and traditional Persian art with contemporary Western design through text, language, typography, and art installations.
