Academic Programs

The Department of Art, Art History and Design offers degrees and minors in art history, studio art and graphic design, as well as a B.A. in studio art with a K-12 art education certification. Our 350 majors have access to state-of-the-art facilities and are mentored by 18 full-time and 25 part-time faculty. Art, art history and design departmental programs include group visits to the Detroit Institute of Arts and other public and private art collections around the city. Enrollment is easy and there are no portfolio requirements for studio art or graphic design.

We also offer a unique study abroad opportunities for art history students in Volterra, Italy.
