Shannon Esselink, M.A. 
Director of Advising Services
All CAS Majors

Shannon Esselink is the Director of Advising Services in the College of Arts & Sciences. She has been in higher education for over 17 years. Shannon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Shannon strives to provide the best advising services for the College of Arts and Sciences students through the numerous committees she serves on in addition to her active daily role in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office, whether meeting with students, faculty, or staff. 

Jim Bilinski

Specialty: Music, Theatre, & Dance

Jim Bilinski is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors and specializes in Music, Theatre, and Dance. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a secondary education teaching certificate from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts from Oakland University. Jim has worked in the academic advising field since 2013.

Kacie Cadotte

Kacie Cadotte is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. She wants to help students make the most out of their experience here at OU by helping them discover what they are passionate about and getting them connected to valuable campus resources.

 
Kelly Gianetto, M.A., L.L.P.C.

Kelly Gianetto is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling at Oakland University and has been advising students since 2012. She strongly believes students should maximize their college experience by taking advantage of all the wonderful resources offered by Oakland University. As an adviser, her goal is to collaborate with students on their path to success: academically, personally, and professionally.


 Anne Jackson, M.A., L.P.C.

Anne Jackson is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University.  She has been in the field of advising and counseling for 20 years, with 13 of those years serving as an Academic Adviser at OU.  Anne feels strongly that students will gain an advantage by following their passion and utilizing their strengths.  She advises students to take charge of their academic career by planning ahead and connecting with a faculty member on campus.  Her goal is to help students  take advantage of all the great opportunities that exist on OU’s campus so they can discover and meet their academic, personal, and career goals.   



Matthew Prentice, M.A., L.L.P.C.

Matt Prentice is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors and specializes in Music, Theatre and Dance. He wants to encourage students to make the most of their college experiences both inside and outside the classroom. He earned a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Matt has been advising students at OU for over 7 years.


Melodi Schuchmann, M.A.

Melodi Schuchmann is a Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors and specializes in Music, Theatre and Dance.  She has been advising students at OU for over 10 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. As a COM101 instructor, Melodi is committed to helping students develop their own unique keys for success. Her “go to” piece of advice for students is to take advantage of all the opportunities for growth on-campus; it’s up to each student to make the most of their OU experience!



Ann Selva, M.A. L.L.P.C.

Ann Selva is the Assistant Director of Advising Services in the College of Arts & Sciences.  She wants to motivate students to reach their goals by working hard, getting involved, and making meaningful connections on-campus. Ann earned an Associates from Oakland Community College, a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Ann has been advising since 2009.

Nancy Gursin
Part-time Adviser
All CAS Majors

Nancy Gursin is a part-time Professional Academic Adviser who advises all CAS majors. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Valparaiso University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University. Nancy has been advising for two years at OU.

Advisers
Each Department in the College of Arts and Sciences has faculty advisers who students should also visit. If a student has a question about a particular program, he/she can seek out the faculty adviser in that department.

Some departments have specific faculty that advise students seeking internships.  If you are looking to complete an internship for your major and/or minor, please contact your internship coordinator.

Shannon Stribling
Office Assistant III

Shannon Stribling is an Office Assistant III and one of the first friendly faces students see when arriving. She earned a certificate in Clerical Office from Baker College. Shannon’s knowledge of the university and resources, make her an incredible asset to the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office. She has been with OU since 2009 and has worked in higher education for over 10 years.


Sheri Rourke
 Office Assistant III
 
Sheri Rourke is an Office Assistant III in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office.  She earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Schoolcraft College and spent 15 years in the finance and operations management field before transitioning to a career in education.  Sheri spent 5 years working in the K-12 atmosphere before beginning her position at Oakland University back in 2013.
