Biography
Dr. Felicia Chong received both a Bachelor of Arts in professional communication and a Master of Science in technical communication from Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, Minn. She taught graphic communication classes as a high school teacher in Minneapolis before pursuing her doctoral degree in rhetoric and technical communication at Michigan Technological University, where she taught college composition, technical communication and digital media. In addition, she was the assistant director for three years on an NSF (National Science Foundation) grant called High School Enterprise, where she collaborated with engineering professors to support high school student teams and teacher-coaches with their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) projects.
Currently, Dr. Chong is serving as the secretary for the Council of Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC) and the faculty advisor for the Writing and Rhetoric Club (student organization). Her research interests include humor in technical documentation, feminism in social media, and program recruitment. Her work can be seen in Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, and Programmatic Perspectives.
