Transfer Year Experience
Welcome to your Transfer Year Experience (TYE)!
The TYE program at Oakland University provides opportunities for transfer students to get connected to valuable resources for both academic success and campus involvement as they progress in their majors.
TYE highlights the importance of meeting with professional academic advisers and promotes our four engagement areas each month to transfer year students through a variety of communications.
Schedule an academic advising appointment. Go to the academic adviser website to find your academic adviser.
At your academic advising appointment, you and your Academic Adviser will discuss several topics:
- Transfer credit: optimizing your transfer credits
- Major: affirming you’re in the right major for you
- Engagement: sharing all of the opportunities related to your major
Students who meet with their Academic Adviser in the fall receive a TYE t-shirt (while supplies last, so don’t put off seeing your Academic Adviser)!
Full year registration happens in late March and your day to register is based on the number of credits completed and transferred.
Discuss your registration plan with your Academic Adviser during a Winter advising appointment before your scheduled registration time.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the first day registration opens for you (go to Important Dates and click on the Winter tab). Upper level classes tend to be smaller and fill up quicker, so register as soon as possible to get the schedule you want.
Your final stop in the Transfer Year Experience is your exit from the program into your next year at OU.
Meet with your Academic Adviser and discuss the final requirements of your degree.
Go to Career Services and meet with a staff member to learn about opportunities for your major.
