The executive vice president for Academic Affairs and provost is the chief academic officer for the university. The provost oversees the  academic schools and the College of Arts and Sciences, Kresge Library, and offices related to research, undergraduate and graduate education, the Eye Research Institute, institutional research, international enrollment management, and Registrar.

The chief of staff serves as the senior advisor to the President and is responsible for recommending policies and practices and other matters to the President that promote the excellence and success of the university. He oversees the university’s strategic plan and builds collaborative relationships across the entire OU community to advance the university’s mission, vision and strategic goals. The Chief of Staff also provides leadership and oversight for the Office of the President, University Human Resources, and University Technology Services.

The vice president for Finance and Administration leads the financial and business services functions and facilities operations of the university. The vice president is Oakland University's chief financial officer, serves as treasurer to the Board of Trustees, and is a board member and treasurer of the Oakland University Foundation. The Finance and Administration Division is committed to supporting and enhancing the campus community with integrity through excellent service, leadership, innovation, and wise stewardship of the University's human, financial, and physical resources.
