The Graham Health Center is again leading the campus effort in providing influenza vaccines to the Oakland University community in hopes for a healthier, happier upcoming flu season.
“This year may be our most important year ever for students, faculty and staff to get a flu vaccination,” said Nancy Jansen, nurse practitioner and director of the Graham Health Center. “We are already navigating through COVID-19 and a difficult flu season would only enhance the unique challenges we are facing in 2020.”
Jansen said there will be several flu vaccine clinics held on campus this fall and that the Graham Health Center will also accept walk-in appointments for flu shots Mondays-Fridays between 8 a.m. and Noon and again from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
“Even if you choose not to get a flu shot on campus,” Jansen added, “We encourage everyone to consider utilizing the vaccine offerings at their doctor’s office, drug stores or other clinics offering the vaccine.”

Friday, Oct. 9 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Oakland Center Habitat
Monday, Oct. 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. outside of the Graham Health Center
Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kresge Library
Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Vandenberg Hall

Why participate?
Each year, many young adults in Michigan will get sick, miss class or even die from the flu. Amazingly, only about 13 percent of college-age residents between the ages of 18-24 get vaccinated in the state of Michigan. The good news is that there continues to be a 5-year trend of increased vaccination rates in the state among this age group.
