Thomas and Engnell to lead Student Congress in upcoming academic year

Engnell is a double major in Mathematics and Creative Writing and Thomas is double majoring in Public Administration and Spanish with a minor in Economics.

With the motto “Serving Students First,” Zack Thomas and Anders Engnell won the recent student body election with nearly 67 percent (926) of the total votes (1,391). 

 

Thomas and Engnell will serve their terms as student body president and vice president, respectively, in Oakland University Student Congress for the 2016-2017 academic year. 

 

Their campaign ran on 5 goals: 

  1. A realistic solution to OU parking
  2. Fight for administrative transparency and accountability
  3. Social justice for OU’s underrepresented communities
  4. Amplify student voices
  5. Reinvent OUSC operations

 

Their secondary goals for the upcoming year include:

  • Promoting student mental well-being
  • Collaboration with student governing bodies such as the Residence Hall Association and Student-Athletic Advisory Committee

  • On-campus safety
  • Enhanced living and learning community for the Greek community
