Winter 2016 classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 5

The winter semester will officially begin when classes resume on Tuesday, Jan. 5 starting at 7:30 a.m.

 

Students will be able to register for winter classes online through Jan. 11, and late registrations will be allowed with instructor permission through Jan. 19. Financial holds need to be resolved prior to registration.  Students can contact Student Financial Services at 248-370-2550 with questions concerning financial holds.

  

Winter 2016 Important Dates: 

Students should mark their calendars for the following important dates for the winter semester. 

  • Monday, Jan. 18 - No classes in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (see events)
  • Tuesday, Jan. 19 -
    • Last day to add a class and last day for a 100% tuition refund for full-semester courses 
    • Financial aid is based on the registered courses and course credits as of 11:59 p.m. Courses and credits added after that time are not considered in financial aid budgets or for disbursement.
  • Friday, Jan. 29 - Last day to file an application for graduation (see below)
  • Saturday, Feb. 20 - Winter recess begins at 10 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 29 - Classes resume at 7:30 a.m.
  • March 21 - Summer 2016, fall 2016 and winter 2017 online registration begins (by class standing)

Spring 2016 graduates: 

Students expecting to graduate after the winter or summer semesters must complete their application for graduation by Friday, January 29 in order to walk in the spring commencement ceremony. 

Students should meet with an academic adviser prior to applying to graduate to confirm that all academic, credit and degree requirements have been met. Applications can be completed on mysail.oakland.edu.  

 

New alumni: 

The Office of the Registrar is now offering eTranscripts through an online service provided by the National Student Clearinghouse. For just $4 payable to the National Student Clearinghouse, you can send official transcripts on the same day of your request — including on weekends and holidays.
