Model teacher and National Board Certified Fellow, Lindsay Solomon, is a second-grade teacher at Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences (DAAS). She has recently been recognized by TeachMichigan, a five-year initiative by Teach For America Detroit, for her instructional excellence and leadership.

TeachMichigan invests in the retention and development of educators and acknowledges the hard work of teachers across the state. These high-impact educators, such as Mrs. Solomon, impact not only the students they support, but also the people they collaborate with. Solomon is in her 14th year of teaching and known for designing creative and rigorous classroom activities to keep students engaged and motivated. She currently teaches second-grade at DAAS and has been teaching there for about a decade. As a model teacher, she mentors other teachers and collaborates with them to strengthen instruction across all grade levels. Using guiding data charts and supporting her colleagues in composing small-group lessons, her goal is for other instructors to meet the direct needs of their students. By meeting students where they are at she provides the adequate assistance they may need in order to excel academically. Solomon attributes her determination to her Teacher Fellowship, highlighting how working intentionally and always seeking to improve can positively impact others.

Throughout her career, Solomon has committed herself to helping all students feel seen and supported throughout their academic journey by building impactful and lasting relationships. We are grateful to recognize such a wonderful teacher and leader who leads with her heart and expertise.
