Application Process 


Applicants are advised to initiate the application process outlined below well before the November 15 primary application deadline. All primary applications must be submitted via AMCAS.

Communications regarding your application status, processing fees, and other application materials are processed electronically.

Steps to Apply

Step One: AMCAS Application

Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine participates with AMCAS - the American Medical College Application Service. To submit an application, visit AMCAS. This initial process includes using the AMCAS letters of recommendation service. AMCAS application deadline is November 15.

Step Two: Supplemental Application

Applicants who meet our minimum academic and residency requirements will be invited to complete a supplemental application. The supplemental application includes a non-refundable fee of $100, which may be waived if you have been granted the AMCAS Fee Waiver.  

The deadline to submit the supplemental application, application fee, and other required materials is December 15.


Note: Only U.S. citizens and permanent residencies will be considered.

Step Three: Screening

Once all application materials (required letters of recommendation, supplemental application, and fee) have been received, OUWB will complete a holistic review of your admission file.

Step Four: Interview

Select applicants will be invited to attend an interview day. Interview season will begin in August and continue until March. Each application cycle roughly 500 applicants will be interviewed.

Step Five: Admission Offer

Select applicants will be offered admission on a rolling basis. Offers of admissions begin in mid-October and will continue until the class is full.

Step Six: Acceptance and Deposit

Admitted students are asked to accept the offer within two weeks of admission. A $100 tuition deposit is required by April 30. Instructions on how to submit the deposit will be sent in early spring.

Early AugustClasses Begin
International Applicants

Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible for admission.  Applicants who did not attend U.S. or Canadian schools should complete at least one year, preferably two, in residence at a regionally accredited college or university. The accredited institution must validate all previous academic credits.

Criminal Background Check

OUWB participates in the AAMC-Facilitated Background Check Service. A criminal background check is required of all accepted students. After January 1 of the application year, Certiphi Screening, Inc. will contact each accepted applicant via email for consent to conduct a background check. Upon completion of the background check, Certiphi will provide the report to you for review (10 days) prior to distribution to the medical school(s) you have been accepted to. Early Decision Program
Beginning in the 2024-2025 admissions cycle, residents of Michigan and applicants with strong OUWB ties are invited to apply to the Early Decision Program. 
Requirements: 3.6 BCPM GPA and 505 MCAT
Deadline for primary application: Aug. 1
Deadline for secondary application and all materials: Aug. 14
Applicants will be notified of a decision by Oct. 1
