How to Setup Outlook 2007


  1. Open Microsoft Office 2007
  2. Click Tools
  3. Select Account Settings
    1. Click New in the Email tab.
    2. Enter your Name, Email address (including "@oakland.edu"), and Netid password.
    3. Click Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
    4. Click next.

  1. Select Internet Email and click Next
  2. User information:
    1. Verify your name
    2. Verify email address (including "@oakland.edu")

 

  1. Server Information
    1. Select the Account type (IMAP or POP)
    2. Enter imap.gmail.com or pop.gmail.com depending on type of account selected
    3. Enter smtp.gmail.com for outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    4. Enter user name (including "@oakland.edu")

  1. Click more settings
    1. Select the Advanced Tab
    2. Incoming port number for IMAP is 993 or POP is 995
    3. Select SSL for type of encryption connection
    4. Change port number to 587 for outgoing server (SMTP)
      1. Select TLS for type of encrypted connection:

  1. Select the Outgoing server tab
    1. Click My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and click OK


Click Next then Finish

Troubleshooting Steps
2-step verification Must be turned off.
