Instructions for how to print by IP address on a Windows Vista computer:

  1. Print out a self-test/configuration page from the printer. Follow the instructions for your printer.
  2. Note the IP address of the network printer on the printed configuration page.
  3. On the client PC, click the Windows/Start button, click Control Panel, click Classic View, click Printers, and click Add a printer.
  4. Select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer, click Next.
  5. Select "The printer that I want isn’t listed". Click Next.
  6. Select the radio button to Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname. Click Next.
  7. Select Autodetect for Device type, enter the IP address listed on the printed configuration page for Hostname or IP address, the Port Name box should populate automatically. Click Next.
  8. On the next screen, click Finish.
  9. From the Add Printer Wizard, select the printer Manufacturer and Model. Reference your printer configuration page to find the correct Manufacturer and Model. Click Next.
  10. If the Use Existing Driver window prompts: Do you want to keep the existing driver or use the new one? Select Keep Existing Driver and click Next.
  11. Enter the printer name in the text box under the Printer Name. Set: Do you want to use this printer as the default printer? to Yes. Click Next.
  12. Select Do Not Share This Printer in the window Printer Sharing. Click Next.
  13. As a final step, print a test page. Click Next.
  14. If the test page printed, the installation was done successfully. Click Finish.
