CBR Members Honored on Founder’s Day

On Wednesday, April 15 Oakland University celebrated Founder’s Day with its 20th Annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon. Founder’s Day honors the memory of Alfred and Matilda Dodge Wilson, whose gift of land and money established Oakland University. Many outstanding faculty were honored at the luncheon, including several members of the Center for Biomedical Research. 


CBR member Jing Tang, of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was recognized for her research, including her recent National Science Foundation CAREER award to develop the next generation of devices that integrate positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. CBR member Dao Qi Zhang, of the Eye Research Institute, was recognized for his 5-year, $1.8 million award from the National Institutes of Health to study functional organization of the retinal dopaminergic network. 


CBR member Xiangqun Zeng, of the Department of Chemistry, received OU’s Research Excellence Award. Zeng leads an interdisciplinary laboratory that has been supported by over $6 million in funding from the NIH, the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety, the Office of Naval Research, the American Chemical Society, the National Institute for Environmental Health and Safety, and by private corporations.
