07/17/17 - A glimpse into being an Actuary: Summer Camp for High School Students
At this unique weeklong camp, students will be introduced to the finance, economics, mathematics and statistics used by actuaries. Students will form teams to do a project using real data where they will estimate the expected insurance company payouts for specific gender and age groups. They will also get to project insurance premium costs. $220, including lunch.
Space is limited. Applications are required. The application deadline is June 1. Special consideration will be given to those who apply before May 1. An early bird discount is available for those apply before April 25. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. High school students can get a jump-start on their college experience at business-focused camps held at Oakland University’s School of Business this summer. This July, students can choose between three different weeklong camps. While each camp highlights a different aspect of business, all campers will get an overview of the business world and a taste of campus life.
