The Presidential Search Committee has successfully performed its duties and has recommended the names of highly qualified individuals to the Board of Trustees for their consideration.

The full Board will consider those recommendations and anticipates inviting two of them to campus for further interviews and public forums. The dates for those visits will be published soon, and they will take place before Thursday, April 20 in order to facilitate greater student and faculty participation.

The Search Committee reviewed more than 60 candidates and found that there were many applicants with distinguished careers who would inspire the respect of the academic community and other stakeholders at Oakland University. The Search Committee has conducted confidential, off-campus interviews with a select number of candidates.

The Search Committee and Board are planning to schedule full, on-campus visits and open forums for the finalists in mid-April. Those dates will be published soon after the Monday, April 3 formal Board Meeting. The names and CVs of each candidate invited to campus will be published approximately 1-2 days in advance of each visit, and in connection with each visit there will be an electronic survey mechanism for further input of the campus communities.

The applicant pool included very diverse individuals in public and private higher education and from a wide variety of positions and backgrounds, including both traditional and less-traditional pathways to a university presidency. Applications were submitted by educational leaders from across the country, and many of them had ties to greater Detroit or Michigan.

The interest in this position has been a testament to the quality and reputation of Oakland University and its growth and future opportunities.
