Oakland University Board of Trustees Vice Chair Richard L. DeVore has been selected as one of the Detroit News’ 2015 Michiganians of the Year. This year’s list recognizes nine outstanding Michigan leaders who have worked to make the state a better place to live. The winners have made a mark in a range of fields, including business, law, nonprofits and social advocacy.

DeVore, regional president for Detroit and Southeastern Michigan at PNC Bank, was honored for PNC’s volunteer and financial support of pre-K education through its Grow Up Great program. DeVore was featured in a Detroit News article, which noted his monthly visits to Schulze Elementary School in Detroit, where he reads to students.

Appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder, DeVore has served on OU’s Board of Trustees since July 2013.
