School of Nursing

The School of Nursing prepares transformational leaders committed to caring and using the best evidence in nursing practice, education and research to optimize the health of the public in a diverse ever-changing society. Aspiring and practicing nurses come from far and wide to study with Oakland’s distinguished faculty, our advanced facilities, and benefit from the school’s many ties to health care in Greater Detroit. Often, they remain close by when they graduate, taking residence in our community and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. Across the entire state, we are known for producing extraordinary graduates capable of administering patient care with equal measures of skill and compassion.

All of this stems from our unwavering commitment to preparing nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to succeed and emphasize the principles of quality, safety, evidence-based practice, collaboration, patient-family centered care, and leadership in everything they do.

Investment made during the Aspire. Advance. Achieve. Campaign for Oakland University will ensure that we may continue our legacy of excellence and deliver the absolute highest level of quality in our instruction, research, and nurse education.
