Biography:
Marilyn Borner is an OU alumnus. Professionally, she is the co-publisher of the Italian Tribune newspaper, a bi-weekly serving metro Detroit since 1909. Formerly, she served as a managing editor and the website Team Leader for the Orange County Register in southern California, one of the largest daily newspapers in the country.

Borner has presented her research on reflection, transfer, and increasing vocabulary at numerous conferences, including the Corridors Conference at Saginaw Valley State University (2018), the Cultural Rhetorics Conference at MSU (2016), the CCCC's convention in Las Vegas (2013), the Equity Conference at Saginaw Valley State University (2012), and the Lilly North Conference (2011).

She is currently active in the faculty learning community "Adventure, Adapt, and Achieve -- the Triple A's of Teaching" where she has presented several teaching methods.

Borner also served on the Writing About Writing Research team at OU and has authored one chapter and co-authored a second in Grizz Writes. She enjoys teaching composition classes (WRT 1050 and WRT 1060) and has taught creative writing as well as journalism, speech and literature classes at other institutions. Borner has been teaching at Oakland University since 2007.
