Soprano Edith Diggory (Mellow) received her Bachelor’s (1976), Master’s (1977) and Doctorate in Voice Performance (1980) from Indiana University where she developed her commitment to the performance of contemporary music. Noted for her expressive voice ( The New Yorker), imaginatively colored singing ( The New York Times), rich tone and dramatic involvement ( Boston Globe), she has worked with many major American composers including Lukas Foss, Bernard Rands, John Harbison, Fred Lerdahl and Ned Rorem.

In 2002, Dr. Diggory received a Teaching Excellence Award from Oakland University, where she has taught since 1985. Dr. Diggory has seen her students branch out into many areas of music including teaching, speech pathology, composition, conducting, and, of course, performing. Her students have performed across the United States, Canada and Latin America, in Europe and Asia in musical theater, operetta, opera and contemporary music.

Committed to the vocal health of singers, Dr. Diggory often works in conjunction with doctors and speech pathologists at Henry Ford Hospital as a professional consultant.
