Pre-health Professional Studies

This program consists of basic sciences and health sciences courses; classes in specific areas such as genetics, biochemistry, research methods, nutrition and more; and electives selected based on your academic/career goals. Due to an aging population, leading to greater demand for healthcare services, occupations in health and health care are expected to increase significantly over the next decade.

Job Outlook
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) expects health care jobs to grow 13% between now and 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 2 million new jobs.

Average Salary
The BLS reports that the median annual wage for healthcare practitioners and technical occupations was $75,040 in May 2021. The median annual wage for physician assistants was $121,530. Wages for physicians and surgeons are among the highest of all occupations, with a median salary equal to or greater than $208,000 per year.
