University Recreation and Well-Being

We're Ready to Welcome You Back

We are excited to announce that Oakland University Recreation Center will be opening for member use on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Following our phased reopening plan, we will open with the modified hours of Monday - Friday 11 a.m - 7 p.m. We are committed to doing everything we can to maintain a healthy environment following CDC, state and local health department guidelines.

We will continually assess our facility use, staffing, and cleaning protocols in order to consider the expansion of hours and equipment offerings. It is up to all of us to take responsibility in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Please play your part by reviewing the information below. We ask that all members follow these guidelines while in our facilities:

What to Do Before You Come

  • Assess your health. If you're not feeling well or are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, cough, shortness of breath or fever, stay home.
  • All campus community members and guests are required to complete health screenings on days they plan to visit campus to utilize the recreation center and programs.
  • Wear your workout clothes to the Rec Center. Locker rooms will be open, without shower access.
  • Grab your Grizz ID or membership key fob, a water bottle, a lock if you plan to utilize day use lockers, and any other equipment you might want for your visit. Equipment check-out will not be available.
  • Have on a mask or face covering. University Recreation and Well-being staff will be wearing masks and you are required to do the same.

What to Expect When You Arrive

  • You will be asked to self-scan your Grizz ID or Key Fob to ensure limited contact entry.
  • You will be required to show the green bar on your daily health screening form.
  • Current executive orders include a limited capacity in recreation centers. Access to the facility is on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Guest passes and new membership sales have been suspended at this time.
  • Equipment and spaces will be modified to meet state and local physical distancing measures. Please note various signage, floor markings, equipment modifications and respect these new measures.
  • Rec Well staff will clean equipment between use and may ask that you relocate to a different machine or equipment area to allow for cleaning.
