Criminal Record checks

The OUPD does not provide individuals with copies of criminal records.

If you need to obtain your criminal history record as part of a school or employment application process, please visit the Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT). For a small fee, you can obtain a copy of your criminal history online directly from the Michigan State Police.

Questions regarding the use of ICHAT should be directed to the Michigan State Police.

Lost and Found

OU Police maintains a lost and found for items of value. Items of value include items such as:

  • wallets with money
  • purses
  • credit cards
  • paper currency
  • state-issued identification
  • cell phones
  • electronic devices
  • valuable jewelry
  • prescription eyeglasses

Valuable items should be brought to the OU Police Communications window without delay to aid in a successful return. Unclaimed items of value will be held by OU Police for 30 days from the date of impoundment.

If you are not able to bring the item to the police station, you may contact us and request that a police officer or service aide pick the item up from you. Please note that due to the prioritization of police calls, we may not be able to immediately pick up your item.

Preliminary breath testing

OU Police provides preliminary breath testing (PBT) services 24 hours a day to individuals with a valid court order for testing. Anyone requesting a PBT must provide a state or government issued identification card and the PBT log issued by a court or probation department.

Cost for each PBT is $10.00. Only exact cash amounts will be accepted.

Please Note: Preliminary breath tests are a low priority police call. Please allow yourself sufficient time in case an officer is not immediately available when you arrive at the police station.
