About Us

As a retiree, you are a valued member of the Oakland University community.

The Pioneer Club was established with the purpose of helping you maintain a high level of engagement with OU during your retirement. We provide social and educational opportunities throughout the year for all retired faculty and staff and their spouses, partners, widows and widowers.

Join us to reconnect with former colleagues, participate in activities you enjoy and further deepen your relationship with OU.

The Center for Public Humanities at Oakland University, an official partner of the Michigan Humanities' Great Michigan Read initiative, invites Pioneer Club members to an online book club


We will discuss What The Eyes Don’t See
by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha
A powerful first-hand account of the Flint water crisis

Wednesday, November 18 at 2 p.m.

This online book club is limited to the first 30 registered and will be hosted via video chat. To begin, readers will meet in three discussion groups, led by Oakland University professors. Small groups will join together and conclude with about 15 minutes of whole-group discussion.

Winter Wonder Lights at Meadow Brook Hall

Winter Wonder Lights is an all-new attraction for the holiday 2020 season. The interactive and imaginative light experience will transport visitors to an enchanted world of lights and magic, spreading the season of cheer and filling the estate with immersive, animated lightscape environments to see, hear and explore.

Tickets are complimentary for you and your guest. Tickets will be available upon arrival at the entrance of Meadow Brook Hall. In order to protect our community, we ask everyone to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing by staying six feet apart from others throughout the tour.
