Benefits and Wellness Fair returns Oct. 30

Benefits providers will be available to all OU employees to answer questions about their individual plans, local vendors will provide information about a wide range of well-being programs and services and you can even get a flu shot!

Benefits and Wellness Fair returns Oct. 30
Flu shots are being offered as part of this year's Benefits and Wellness Fair.

The annual Benefits and Wellness Fair returns to Oakland University’s Recreation Center on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the entire campus community.

This event marks the start of the 2019 benefits open enrollment period for all university employees. Representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Priority Health and other benefit providers will be available to answer questions.

“New this year, you will have the option to elect your benefits onsite with assistance from UHR representatives who will be available at five kiosk stations,” said resentatives who will be available at five kiosk stations,” said Chief Operating Officer Scott Kunselman.

“Local businesses will also be in attendance and provide you with multiple opportunities and resources to support your personal health and well-being.”

Free flu shots will be offered by the Visiting Nurses Association by presenting an insurance card.

“Having all of our benefits providers in one spot at this fair is a great example of OU’s commitment to advancing a campus culture of well-being for our faculty, staff and students,” said Greg Jordan, director of University Recreation & Well-Being.

Stephanie Willis, wellness & educational outreach coordinator for University Recreation & Well-Being, added that additional draws for this year’s event include:

  • Chair massages, provided by Loving Health Chiropractic
  • Therapy dogs on-site throughout the day as part of the Fur Angels program
  • Biggby Coffee available for purchase throughout the day at a discounted rate
  • The Barre Code will be doing a free Barre Class in the Recreation Center from 12:10 - 12:50 p.m. for the first 30 people that arrive to the class
  • Meeting new vendors, including: Hungry Harvest, Clean Plates Detroit and Red Effect
  • The AP Assembly will also be hosting a spirit wear sale for all employees, where samples of all items will be available and orders can be placed.
