Oakland University’s Student Life Lecture Board will present “An Evening with Christopher Jackson” at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 10 in the Banquet Rooms inside the Oakland Center.

Jackson is a Tony Award nominated actor, as well as a Grammy and Emmy Award winning songwriter/composer best known for starring as George Washington in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s critically acclaimed, award-winning musical, Hamilton.

Other notable appearances include Broadway’s In the Heights and The Lion King, Disney film Moana, Netflix’s Central Park 5, CBS drama Bull, and HBO Max’s And Just Like That.

Jackson was also the composter/songwriter for Sesame Street, and co-music supervisor and writer for The Electric Company (PBS).

“What an honor it is for Oakland University to host such an accomplished artist,” said Jean Ann Miller, senior director of OU’s Office for Student Involvement.

“Jackson will be speaking on lessons learned along his career path and the mantras, moments, and mentors that have made a difference in his life,” Miller added. “Also, he will be reflecting on the social impact of Hamilton, as well as why he is a passionate advocate for social inclusion, the arts, and autism.”

“An Evening with Christopher Jackson” is free to attend and no tickets are required. The event is open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and their guests.
