Intern Feature: Amanda Benno
Oakland University Undergraduate student, Amanda Benno, has been spending the last four months working closely with OU INC Accelerator Client, Munetrix, as their intern and office assistant.

Her duties include clerical support, data mining, website testing, building excel spreadsheets, and event planning.

“My favorite part about working with Munetrix is that I really feel like I am part of their team and not just an intern making copies in the back room. I'm given the opportunity to get creative with projects that I receive. The substantial tasks assigned to me have really helped facilitate knowledge in the areas of government administration and fiscal transparency. I'm getting a hands-on education every day I work here,” Benno said.

As a company, Munetrix, founded in 2010 by Bob Kittle and Buzz Brown, assists companies, governments, and schools with determining their financial health through data compilation and analysis, and presenting results in scorecards that contain visuals that the public can understand.

“My experience at Munetrix is always growing and changing, just as I expect life to be after graduation. I'm gaining knowledge in a hands-on, fast paced environment which is something that, unfortunately, I can't get from a classroom,” Benno said.

Benno was instrumental in the planning of Munetrix’s grand opening and values her new skills regarding event planning.

“After Oakland, I really hope to attend a graduate school for Public/International Administration. I would really like to supplement that schooling by joining the Peace Corps and applying to their Master's International program,” Benno said.

Benno will be entering her 4th year at OU this fall as an International Relations major and plans to graduate in Fall of 2014.
