COVID-19 Information and Policies

You have reached an archived page.  For our current policy, please view this link.

As of December 8, 2021:  Students must follow the SON COVID Protocol and take the actions stipulated by the SON COVID Response Team ([email protected]) in order for any missed course or clinical work to be an excused absence. Failure to comply will result in unexcused absence, reduction in grades and/or course failure. This may negatively impact a student's ability to progress in the nursing program.

The School of Nursing is working together with many units on campus to ensure safety in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting while providing you the best, highest quality education supported by faculty fully committed to student success.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID or have COVID-related symptoms, please notify [email protected] immediately and follow the steps below.

Complete the OU SON Student COVID Exposure Form immediately: https://forms.gle/srUCz11PuLe96H1FA if you have not already done so.

Failure to complete the SON Student COVID Exposure Form may result in an unexcused absence and may also result in a delay for you to return to campus and/or clinical.

Notify your course FOR and your clinical faculty (if a clinical course) immediately in writing via email if you have not already done so.

If you are scheduled for simulation, notify the Simulation Coordinator ([email protected]) immediately in writing via email if you have not already done so.

Review the SON COVID-19 Information and Policies.

Wait for further instructions from SON COVID. Begin the isolation process immediately.

After receiving your email and the completed OU SON Student COVID Exposure Form, SONCOVID will follow up with you with instructions you need to follow regarding isolation, testing, and return to campus and will also provide you with COVID-related resources. Please contact [email protected] with any additional questions.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID or have symptoms of COVID, contact Graham Health Center for information on testing. They can be reached by phone at (248) 370-2341 or by email at [email protected] for more information.

It is very important to review OU Expectations for Students in Isolation from the Dean of Students and Infection Prevention Control Committee. It also includes useful OU campus resources.
