OUWB faculty member earns Michigan State Medical Society president-elect post

Cheryl Gibson Fountain, M.D., FACOG, associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) and attending physician at Beaumont Grosse Pointe and Beaumont Royal Oak Hospitals, will serve as the president of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) beginning April 2017.

Dr. Gibson Fountain, a Grosse Pointe Park obstetrician/gynecologist, was elected during the 151st annual meeting of the MSMS House of Delegates. She is currently serving as MSMS president-elect until she assumes the presidency.

Dr. Gibson Fountain is past president of the Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan. She serves on the Detroit Regional Infant Mortality Reduction Task Force and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Physician and Professional Provider Contract Advisory Committee. Dr. Gibson Fountain is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine.

OUWB is a collaboration between Oakland University and Beaumont Health, southeast Michigan’s largest integrated health care system. OUWB students train in three Beaumont Hospitals (Royal Oak, Troy, and Grosse Pointe) located in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne counties in southeast Michigan.
