Rationale:

In order to maintain and improve the quality of the educational program, the School of Medicine has implemented a course and faculty evaluation process. In addition, completion of faculty and course evaluations is an essential component of a student’s professional growth. Failure to complete these evaluations in a timely manner indicates a lack of professional responsibility and will be reflected in the student’s non cognitive evaluation.

Scope and Applicability:

All students enrolled in the School of Medicine

Standard Practice Guideline:

Medical students must submit course and faculty evaluations for all courses completed in the M1 and M2 years.

Procedures:

Email reminders for online evaluation will be sent to students when evaluations are available for completion. All students are required to complete a course evaluation for each course completed. Students are also required to complete at least 70% of faculty evaluations for faculty in M1 and M2 courses. However, students should never feel obligated to provide an evaluation of a faculty member for a course session that they did not attend or cannot remember. In that case, students are encouraged to select the option on the evaluation form indicating they did not attend or cannot remember the session. Evaluations so marked will be counted towards the 70% completion rate requirement for faculty evaluations.
