Julie Dichtel, executive director of Macomb County Outreach, has been chosen as the 5th annual winner of Leadership Macomb’s Donald R. Torline Leadership Legacy Award.

The award is presented to a Leadership Macomb graduate who demonstrates a generous heart and kind spirit, supports Leadership Macomb, represents the County in a positive and professional manner, has a positive impact on their organization and is actively involved in Macomb County community service initiatives.

Dichtel (Leadership Macomb XII/2008 - 2009) serves on the Leadership Macomb Program Council, has chaired the Education Day session for several years and was instrumental in developing the Junior Leadership Macomb program.

She was honored at the Leadership Macomb awards ceremony on May 17 at Premier Events Center in Clinton Township.

“Julie’s generous contributions of time, talent and treasure have had a tremendously positive impact on Leadership Macomb and the County. We are very proud to present her with this award that she is so deserving of,” Karen Smith, Leadership Macomb’s Executive Director said.

Dichtel said following the event, “I was honored to receive this year’s Donald R. Torline Leadership Legacy Award. OU is committed to Macomb County. We’ve built strategic partnerships to strengthen that commitment and make a positive impact through our continued participation, support and involvement in local events, initiatives and projects like the Let’s Move Festival of Races, Tara's Walk & 5-K Run for Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention and the Macomb County Santa Parade. It’s important we’re responsive to the needs of Macomb County – a place approximately one-third of our current students and more than 20,000 OU alums call home.”
