L'Anse Creuse kicks off strategic planning with message from OU educator

The L’Anse Creuse Public Schools district is seeking community input in its strategic planning process, and will host a free community event on Jan. 18 that will include a presentation from an Oakland University educator.

The free event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., first at the John R. Armstrong Performing Arts Center and later at the Frederick V. Pankow Center. Both buildings are located in Clinton Township.

“We are going to begin a strategic planning process, which of course we have talked a little bit about,” L’Anse Creuse Superintendent Jacqueline Johnston said on Dec. 16. “Our strategic plan takes us through the end of this year. So this fiscal year, June 30. This means we need to be working on a strategic plan to guide us into the future after the conclusion of this fiscal year.”

The event will be limited to two hours and will be kick-started with speaker Dr. C. Robert Maxfield, the interim dean of the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University. Maxfield has been involved in public education since 1964, serving as a teacher, building administrator and superintendent in the Berkley and Farmington school districts. He was named the Michigan Superintendent of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Administrators in 2004 and joined the Oakland University faculty in 2005. Prior to becoming the interim dean of the School of Education and Human Services at the university, he was an associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership.
