How to Print by IP Address in Windows 8

Before you get started you will need the IP of the printer.  You can obtain this usually by printing a configuration page from the printer itself or it may be displayed on the screen of the printer.

1.       Go to the right sidebar menu and click search

2.       Type Control Panel in the search bar and then click on the Control Panel application


3.       Click view devices and printers

4.       Click Add a printer

5.       Click The printer that I want isn’t listed

6.       Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname then click next

7.       Type in the IP address and the name you wish to give the printer then click next.

8. ***Skip If the driver is installed:  Click windows update then select the make and model of the printer. Finally click next.

9. Type in the name you wish to give the printer again and click next.

10.  Select do not share this printer and click next

11. If this printer will be the default click the Set as default printer box.  You should click on the print test page to make sure it was installed correctly then click finished.
