You will be able to access the OU email and MySAIL systems 24 hours after you have activated your accounts.

All official university communication is sent through your OU email account and by viewing information in MySAIL.  Activate both of these accounts by following the instructional videos below.

You will need your Grizzly ID Number (found in your acceptance letter). If you do not have your Grizzly ID Number, contact Undergraduate Admissions at (248) 370-3360.

Change Your GrizzlyID Pin (SAIL)

  1. Open a Web browser
  2. Go to
  3. Click on MySAIL
  4. Under the "Quick Links" area, click “New student? Get your NetID and password”
  5. Select “Reset/Change your GrizzlyID PIN”
  6. Follow the directions to change your PIN and/or security question

*Write down your PIN number on your acceptance letter. You'll need this PIN to create a
password for your account.


Activate Your NetID (E-mail)

  1. Open a Web browser and go to
  2. Click on "MySail"
  3. Next click on "Get your NetID and Password" in the Quick Links Box
  4. Click "Create NetID Account"
  5. Read the "NetID Guidelines and Information" then click continue
  6. Enter your GrizzlyID number and PIN then click "Submit"
  7. Select desired NetID and click "submit"
  8. Click on "password reset page" to set a new password
  9. Enter your Grizzly ID number and Pin
  10. Type your password for in "New NetID Password" . Your password should be between 8-15 alpha numeric characters and must contain on letter and one number.
  11. Click on "Change Password" 

*Write down your NETID username and password on your acceptance letter. You'll need this information to register for classes and to check your Oakland University Webmail.
