The ACCC offers no-cost guidance services to members of the community. The ACCC helps individuals who are considering a career change or are simply reviewing possible career options.
The Adult Career Counseling Center is open year round and is always pleased to accept referrals.
- Initial intake to discuss current situation and career/life goals
- Administration and interpretation of assessments and inventories, which may be helpful in identifying interests, values and skills
- Guidance through the process of exploring various careers through Web searches and homework assignments outside of sessions
- Job-hunting strategies, interview techniques and assistance with the development of a resume and cover letter

The advisors at the ACCC offer personality, interests, and skill assessments, as well as computer-based career resources to support your career decision-making efforts. These systems, in combination with discussion, will help you in self-awareness, career searching, identifying life roles, gathering career information, decision-making, education-planning, and writing resumes and cover letters.
Do I have to be an Oakland County resident or graduate of Oakland University?
No. The ACCC has served clients from throughout the Greater Metro Detroit area.
How much does it cost?
The services at the ACCC are at NO COST to members of the community.
Can you find me a job?
The ACCC is NOT a job placement service. We specialize in providing assistance in the areas of decision-making and devising a career plan.
What are the qualifications of your advisors?
ACCC Career advisors are graduate students and PhD candidates in the Master of Arts Counseling program, supervised by a counselor who has earned the designation of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Career Counselor (NCCC).
Normally the ACCC is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 9:00pm, Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday, 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes.
