Biology Major Marisa Brake is Accepted into the American Heart Association Undergrduate Student Research Program

Marisa Brake has been accepted into the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate Undergraduate Student Research Program. The purpose of this program is to encourage students to consider research careers while supporting high quality scientific research related to cardiovascular disease and stroke. Brake, a biology major, will work with Prof. Randy Westrick, of the Department of Biological Sciences, to study the “identification of thrombosis modifier genes in ENU mutagenized mice.” This research extends the work Brake began last summer as part of OU’s Summer Research Program in Biological Sciences and Chemistry. She presented her results at the 2014 Sigma Xi Annual Meeting & International Research Conference
