  • Effective January 20, Professor Baillargeon assumed the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society for Photographic Education (SPE), the first non-American citizen to serve in this capacity. Founded in the early 1960s, SPE is a vital not-for-profit organization with a global membership base dedicated to understanding how photography matters in the world. This is a two-year mandate running until January 2019.
  • In the December 19 & 26, 2016, edition of The New Yorker, Professor Baillargeon is quoted in an article by Raffi Katchadourian titled "The Long View: Edward Burtynsky's Quest to Photograph a Changing Planet." Baillargeon reports that it was especially satisfying to see Oakland University mentioned without the customary reference to Rochester, Michigan.
  • John Corso, Associate Professor of Art History,has had his article, “Organicism Revisited: Politics and Biological Metaphor in Beverly Fishman’s C.E.L. 109,”  published in the most recent issue of The Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
  • The next exhibit at the OU Art Gallery, Terrestrial/Celestial, features the work of Professor Cody VanderKaay's. The exhibit runs from March 3-April 9, 2017, with the opening reception on Friday, March 3, 5-7:00 pm. and the Artist's Talk on Thursday, April 6 at noon.
  • Susan Wood, Professor of Art History, has two recent publications. Her article, "Hadrian, Hercules and griffins: a group of cuirassed statues from Latium and Pamphylia" was published in the Journal of Roman Archaeology, and a chapter she wrote for the Companion to the Flavian Age of Imperial Rome appeared in print.
